Compassionate & Resilient Schools = CRS

CRS definition of trauma:  Trauma is anything less than nurturing that
changes your vision of yourself and/or your place in the world.

We believe in building safe & nurturing relationships with every student in every school. Safe, caring relationships foster resilience and support children as they learn to adapt well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats and/or significant stress — such as family and relationship problems, health problems or life stressors. We believe in our students ability to "bounce back" from difficult experiences when given the tools, resources and positive relationships.

The CRS Leadership Team has presented our CRS Model locally through Davie and Davidson Counties, state-wide at the Children's Advocacy Centers of North Carolina Symposium on Child Abuse and Neglect, and nationally at the National Children's Alliance Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.

Partnering to implement "Compassionate and Resilient Schools" means that Administrators do not have to figure out this process on their own and they will have help and support throughout so that they can remain focused on their job of running the school and providing the best educational setting possible for their students.  The Dragonfly House will assist you with training/education, resources, supplies, potential funding (as grants allow), support and encouragement.

The story behind the CRS logo...

Picture
The Compassionate & Resilient Schools logo was uniquely created using key elements from the logos of both Davie County Schools and The Dragonfly House.   Orange is the primary color for Davie County Schools and is represented through the hearts, which are the children in our schools and community.  Our children are carrying heavy burdens so their hearts are upside down in the design.  Green represents the teachers and school personnel who extend their reach in every direction to lift children up and keep them from falling through a compassionate and resiliency focused lens.   Blue is the primary color for The Dragonfly House and is represented through the hands, which support the schools and students with trauma-responsive and trauma-trained professionals who offer guidance, education, training, and resources.  "Together We Extend Our Reach"
